Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Cake from "The Cake Blog"
After today, I'm going on a cake-making hiatus. After cracking ten eggs (I only needed eight; two somehow didn't make it onto the cake due to separate mishaps), scooping three-and-a-half cups of sugar (I only needed three; the rest was spilled and now lives in the vacuum cleaner), and mixing six sticks of butter into the Italian meringue buttercream one tablespoon at a time, my body and my waistline need a break.
Somehow, this 8-inch, 3-layer cake needs to feed up to a hundred people at a work potluck tomorrow. If I slice so thinly that the "wedges" of chocolate cake are transparent, we might have enough for everyone to have a taste.
Anyway, on to the next culinary obsession! I'm really hoping it's broccoli or kale this time! How many green meals will it take to reverse the cake damage? I'll update you on the progress.
