How to Steam an Artichoke without a Steamer
Artichokes have the lowest edible-to-inedible ratio of any vegetable I can think of. I have heard that artichokes are to be steamed, but I do not own a steamer tall enough to fit an artichoke.
Instead, I simply filled a stockpot with an inch or two of water, sliced the top off of the artichoke, and cooked it upside-down for 20 minutes. Close enough to a steamer!
